Limitations of constructing furniture with Particle board or Fibre board

What are the problems in construction with particle/fibre board?
Ans-:
            The limitations are as below.

a] Since particle boards have no fibres, the screw holding strength is poor with either the wood screw or conventional fine thread metal screws. In fibre board, even if the fibres are present, these are short and lie randomly. Hence there is no possibility of adequate fibre entanglement with the screw threads.
b] Hence for the particle/fibre boards, special screws are used. These screws have straight shank and the threads are coarse. Even with these special screws, the strength is not as good as the wood screw or the metal screw in plywood.
c] The screw fitment on the edge of the particle/fibre board has severe limitations. However, the screw can be fitted across the plane of the board.
d] Nails have virtually no holding power in particle board fitments.
e] These limitations warrant us to use only special fittings where the screw fitment is across the plane of the board.
f] High accuracy is needed while working with particle/fibre boards. Hence machines and sophisticated tools are needed. Manual working with hand tools may not give satisfactory results.
g] Particle/fibre board is heavier than plywood.
