Why has ‘mild steel’ gained wide acceptance as a
structural
member
in construction?
Ans-:
1. Mild steel is strong and has high tensile
strength 6000 kg/sqcm
2. It
is malleable and ductile. Hence it can be easily forged and drawn.
It can be easily machined and welded.
3. The
ores are available almost in every part of the world abundantly.
4. It
is relatively cheap.
5. It
can withstand shocks.
6.
By controlling Carbon percentage, it can be made tough or elastic as
needed.
