What are the properties of Ceramic tiles?

What are the properties of Ceramic tiles?

Ans: Following are the properties of Ceramic tiles.

a.     Ceramic tiles are brittle.
b.    Attractive colours and designs are available.
c.     The thickness is normally 6 mm for sizes below 300 x 300 mm and 8mm for vitrified ceramic tiles up to 600 x 600 mm.
d.    Since the thickness is small, these are light in weight compared to mosaic tiles, cement tiles or stone slabs.
e.     These are not easily charred by cigarette butts or temporary flames. But are charred by welding sparks.
f.     These are hard and are not easily scratched.
g.    These are non absorbent and do not get easily stained.
h.     These can be easily cleaned by soap water.
i.      Tiles with textured surfaces or non skidding surfaces are also available.
j.      These are not affected by mild acids and alkalies.
