What is meant by bent glass?

What is meant by bent glass?
Ans.
Glass has a good viscosity range from 1000º C to 1300º C. Glass starts softening at about 600 º C. It means glass starts becoming plastic at  this temperature. At this temperature, its flatness can be changed to a curved shape. This glass is said to be bent glass or curved glass. Moulds are used to shape the glass after the desired heating in the oven. These glasses are used as window panes in vehicles, glass canopies, show windows, domes, in curved partition etc.
These glasses can be toughened and tempered to prevent harms due to accidental breakages as in vehicle window panes.
Since a mould is needed, unit production of these is expensive. However, for mass production the cost of the mould is divided over the entire batch and, then it becomes economical.
